After installing the Mass Effect Trilogy I proceeded to launch and set all my graphics options to maximum. This is when I noticed that Mass Effect 2 would sync to cloud and then proceed to never launch. It does not show up in any Task Manager tabs that it is remotely running some how. I would try to uninstall and reinstall, however, due to my incompetent internet speed and reports on several other threads about this topic that it does not work, I am wary of that option.
I have yet to beat ME1 on PC yet and, would like to have ME2 ready to go on completion. I have tried repairing files to which none are found to be in need of repair. I even tried the advice of a solution on another thread which suggests deleting the data files along with the Mass Effect 2 config folder found within the Binaries folder. This sadly failed to work as well. I feel like I am on my last leg here and considering I bought all story DLC for Origin ME2 I would like to avoid repurchasing it on Steam which I am unsure of if I would have to also repurchase the DLC for. Either way if there is any full proof solution it would be much appreciated if it could be brought to light here. Ok I had this same very problem. My game plays perfectly fine now just follow my steps and this also work for the dlcs. I guess this problem is because some of us have a mod for controller support or imported our me1 character. When i press play on origin it just goes back to being on origin after launching for awhile. I did something soooooooo simple and it just happens to work but after i shut my pc down i have to start the simple snd easy process again so here are the steps.1. Open Origin2. Go to the left where its says origin and u wil see some tabs to click like application settings and etc.3.
Click play mass effect 2 (It will start and ask to login just hit cancel and exit the game since you have to be online in origin fo cerberis network and dlcs)5. Exit the game go back to origin and go back online.6. Click play mass effect 2 ( You will have to sign in EA and able too also)This is how I was able to play mass effect 2 hope this helps if u have any questions feel free to ask.

In the beginning of the game when Shepard must escape the station he revived from. After the Commander heals Wilson and uses Overload on the explosive crates, while heading for the exit, Jacob interrupts to explain that Cerberus funded the Lazarus project. During the conversation you may choose 'That sounds familiar.'
And 'I'll never work for Cerberus!' For Paragon points; or 'You lied to me.' And 'What are you after?' For Renegade points. After the conversation, go inbetween the two box the explosive crates were, then save. Load that save file up and Shepard should be at the same spot.
As you approach the exit, the conversation will start up again and can be repeated. The points do carry over to the saved files so this can be done to fill both Paragon and Renegade meters. However the saving and loading process can take up time and, because Shepard receives only 4 points for the conversation, can take up a lot of saves (500 saves total with a ME2 import Shepard with 4 ranks in class specialist, with 250 saves for each meter).
Also, the player is unable to see their Paragon/Renegade meter until the leave the station (just before they see the Illusive Man). Nevertheless, it leaves the player the freedom to choose without worrying about Paragon/Renegade points because it takes place early in the game.
It's recommended not to fill all the way up but about 4/5 (80%) of the way and fill the rest up during the game. Because you can't see the Paragon/Renegade meter, it is also recommended for the player to first choose only the Renegade option so that Shepard's scars gets worse as you repeat it. This allows you to guess how many Renegade points Shepard has without having to advance to the first meeting with the Illusive Man, which is the point at which the Paragon/Renegade meters become viewable.

The opening text needs to be changed. The Reapers destroy all technologically advanced organic life every 50,000 years, not all organic life. This is an important part of the story as well as an important distinction. It could be confusing to new players to the Mass Effect franchise. The discovery of Prothean artifacts on Mars that propelled humanity further into space couldn't have happened if the Reapers had destroyed earth along with the Protheans in the last cycle. The Reapers would have to wait far longer between cycles if they destroyed everything.
